“Ben-Hur.” Have you ever wondered what this name means? It carries something important that goes beyond a simple surname.

To begin: do you know who **Hur** was in the Bible?

**The origin**

**Hur** is a prominent biblical figure, mentioned mainly in the book of Exodus as a trusted leader of the tribe of Judah.

He helped Moses during the battle against the Amalekites. Alongside Aaron, **Hur** held Moses' arms raised until sunset, contributing to Israel's victory.

The family's surname is directly linked to this ancestor. So the name "**Ben-Hur**" means:

- **Ben** = "son of"
- **Hur** = the family ancestor's name

Thus, **Ben-Hur = "son of Hur"**.
Understanding this name's origin will help you understand why it carries so much weight in the story. 🙂‍↕️

For **Judah, "Ben-Hur"** represents much more than family identification. The value of this name lay in what his ancestors represented before God.

Just as **Hur** showed steadfastness by supporting Moses' hands at a decisive moment for the people of Israel, **Judah** also wants to carry that same steadfastness in his character.

This is one of the reflections the series presents throughout the story, showing that some legacies are worth far more than any wealth.
