Anyone who watched the thirty-second episode of *Paulo, o Apóstolo* was nothing short of shocked by the intensity, cruelty and threatening presence of Ammonios and his scar. Although he contributes to the narrative by triggering major developments for the storylines still in Jerusalem, this character is based on historical records.

There are accounts of an “Egyptian Messiah” who lived during Felix's rule—and if you check them, you will discover he still has trouble to cause… Another recorded mention concerns the Zealots. They were a group of men who used violence in response to Roman occupation in Judea, targeting both Romans themselves and Jews who collaborated with the Empire.

The Bible also contains a reference confirming historical records of the period, in a conversation between a Roman tribune and the Apostle Paul when he was arrested in Jerusalem:

> “Are you not that Egyptian who some time ago stirred up a rebellion and led four thousand robbers into the wilderness?”
>
> Acts 21:38

Biblical, historical and arriving unannounced in the series, Ammonios was the name chosen for this figure who—yes, it is possible—will still surprise you!
