It is admirable to see Asa take the throne so young and show discernment in his choices, but we cannot ignore his predecessors’ long list of mistakes and successes. Writer Cristiane Cardoso comments on the lessons we will learn from Asa:

‘I see Asa as the perfect example that we do not have to be products of the circumstances around us. In the end, we decide whether to be righteous, whether to fear God, and whether to use reason. We do not have to make mistakes because our parents did, and to me, that is one of the greatest lessons I take from this young, wise king.’
