Reis has helped many people understand more deeply the conflicts and influences that shaped the reigns of Israel’s kings.

In A Emboscada, Abias’s reign was marked by the same mistakes made by his father, Roboão. For those rooting for Asa’s reign, writer Cristiane Cardoso shares:

‘People mistakenly think that anyone lacking good role models will go wrong in life, but God’s Word is there for whoever wants to follow good examples. That is what Asa did: he wanted to be like Davi. Moreover, we learn from both good and bad examples, and Asa was no different. Rather than merely being a victim of his father’s wrong decisions, he chose to learn from them. We see this with Maaca, who greatly influenced Abias but could not do the same with Asa.’
