They imagine life will be simple and God will resolve every obstacle as if by magic, leaving them unsure how to maintain faith in difficult times. With films imagining genies in lamps, fairy godmothers, and wish-granting candles, Christians must remember that real life is very different. It is in difficult moments that we learn faith, mature spiritually, and understand we are no longer children. ![Faith in difficult times](https://blog.univervideo.com/imagens/strapi-b6240f115204daeb.jpg) ### **Having faith through difficulties does not stop you from feeling pain** Being Christian does not mean having superpowers or not feeling a problem’s pain. Like any human being, Christians cry and feel anguish, but do not surrender to it. The difference between believers and nonbelievers is simple: when facing a very serious problem, do you have the assurance deep in your conscience that there is a God who can resolve everything? Those who do not believe in God lack the assurance that only faith through difficulties can bring. When problems arise, they cannot see a solution. And a person facing a problem without a solution is overcome by despair. Perhaps you think such people do not exist or that this sounds like false positivity, but below we will discuss men who lived on earth and overcame everything through faith in difficulties. ### **Moses** After discovering his true origins and killing an Egyptian soldier, Moses was forced to flee Egypt and find faith in the wilderness’s difficulties until reaching Midian. He also had to trust that God would equip him to become the great leader who would free the Hebrews from slavery. ![Moses in Os Dez Mandamentos](https://blog.univervideo.com/imagens/strapi-eb6658986404dd8d.jpg) We can imagine obstacles that tested Moses’s faith: insecurity upon learning he had been abandoned in the Nile before understanding why; fear of being killed by Pharaoh; hunger, thirst, and fear in the wilderness. Although much is said about Moses’s great deeds, we must remember that, like all of us, he needed to find faith in difficulties, and succeeded. To learn his story in detail, watch the telenovela *Os Dez Mandamentos* or *Os Dez Mandamentos - O Filme*, available on Univer Vídeo. ### **Abraham** Known as the father of faith, Abraham is a leading example of finding faith through difficulties. After hearing God’s call, Abraham left the comfort of home and family for a place he did not even know, needing to trust God 100% while facing many obstacles along the way. ![Abraham in the telenovela Gênesis](https://blog.univervideo.com/imagens/strapi-102dda725b1ab875.webp) Abraham found faith amid the difficulty of believing after so many years without the promise of his son being fulfilled. How often have you experienced something similar? You pray for a dream, and as time passes, discouragement begins to grow. If waiting one year for God’s promise already seems unreal, imagine Abraham, who waited 25 years! Having faith to wait is as difficult as having faith to overcome a problem. Abraham’s story is portrayed in various titles on Univer Vídeo, such as the telenovela *Gênesis*, *Heróis Eternos*, and *Abraão - Coleção Bíblia Sagrada*. From saving his lost sheep by killing lions and bears (1 Samuel 17:34), to being his family’s last choice, and after his anointing as well, he needed great faith in the difficulties he faced with Saul, who refused to give up the throne and pursued him until the end. Years later, when David and Bathsheba committed adultery, viewing the situation through David’s redemption shows that the king needed to face many internal and external conflicts and have genuine faith in the difficulty of restoring his salvation. He did not give up seeking God and died known not for his sin, but as the man after God’s own heart. ![David in Reis](https://blog.univervideo.com/imagens/strapi-7481c055b96d173c.jpg) On Univer Vídeo, you can get a brief overview of David’s story through *Rei Davi*. But in *Reis*, you can see details of the beginning of his story, the persecution, his reign, his fall, and its consequences. The answer is simple: stay constantly connected to God’s Word. Beyond these men, there are many other examples, foremost the Lord Jesus, who came to earth, faced many problems, and overcame them all. In difficult times, holding on to the Bible is caring for your soul. ### **Why keep faith in difficult times?** Every Christian should maintain faith in difficult times because we live only a point on an infinite line. Our earthly lives may last at most 100/120 years, but our eternity will never end. Nothing we experience here should stain our eternity. Hurt, lack of money, injustice, grief… Everything passes except our eternity. That is why we must keep faith through difficult times at all costs: at life’s end, only where we placed our faith will count. ![ben-white-vtCBruWoNqo-unsplash.jpg](https://blog.univervideo.com/imagens/strapi-1c722e993763f416.jpg) Univer Vídeo arose from an urgent need for content discussing this faith and leading subscribers to a high spiritual standard.
