With none other than Jim Caviezel, star of ‘A Paixão de Cristo’, in its cast and an incredible performance by James Faulkner, ‘Paulo, Apóstolo de Cristo’ is one of Univer Video’s cinematic treasures.

For those unfamiliar with it, the story begins in Rome and depicts, almost faithfully, the painful persecution of Christians under Emperor Nero. In this setting, Paul, alongside the physician and disciple Luke, author of one of the Gospels, tells of the end of his life on earth.

Throughout the feature, James Faulkner, who devoted himself as never before to the role of Scripture’s most famous apostle, moves between Paul’s many letters to the churches — which today make up almost 100% of the New Testament — and the intense conversations between Luke and Paul.

Little by little, the film’s narrative develops amid the harsh oppression suffered by Rome’s Christians and the protagonist’s inner suffering, as he fiercely struggles to silence his humanity, which insists on reminding him of the persecutions he himself committed in the past.

Thus, ‘Paulo, Apóstolo de Cristo’ is a film that brings a lump to your throat while awakening the conscience of anyone who claims faith in the Lord Jesus, intensely and truthfully portraying a life of genuine sacrifice and love for Christ.
