If you are following the seventh season of Reis, you have seen that David's wives are everywhere. He has also brought concubines into the harem.

But have you ever stopped to think which of David's wives you would be, based on your personality?

Each of David's wives has a distinctive personality that makes her unique. I will show you a little about them so you can reflect honestly on which of David's wives you identify with most.

## **MICHAL, DAVID'S FIRST WIFE**

When Saul began to suspect that David was God's newly anointed one, jealousy flared within him. The king then discovered that his daughter Michal loved David.

As the daughter of Israel's king, Michal's spoiled personality is hardly surprising. She had everything she wanted, did not need to watch her words and felt superior to all the other young Israelite women.

Planning to take advantage of his daughter's feelings, Saul gave Michal to David as his wife.

Michal became David's first wife before he took the throne. Saul, however, began persecuting him, forcing him to flee to save his own life.

With Michal's help, David managed to trick the king's soldiers and get a head start.

Michal suffered greatly during that temporary separation from David, and Saul even gave her to Paltiel as his wife while she eagerly awaited a reunion with her love.

Years later, Saul died. In a political move, David managed to bring Michal back. But instead of receiving him lovingly, his wife's first action was to slap the king in the face: while she had been suffering, he had been marrying other women.

### **MICHAL'S GREATEST FRUSTRATION**

One of the greatest frustrations of David's first wife was being unable to become a mother. At one point in Reis, she even became pregnant, but lost the baby, which plunged her into deep sadness.

From then on, we can see a bitter, dissatisfied Michal, struggling with insecurities and taking them out on everyone around her.

This led her to behave very wrongly toward David when the ark of the covenant entered Jerusalem, which cost her her fertility.

God Himself made her womb barren, and she could never experience the joy of motherhood. This situation embittered her way of life.

Perhaps being spoiled in her youth, when she was a princess, left David's wife unable to cope with setbacks in life.

The reality is that things do not always happen the way we want. That is why we need to be prepared for the “noes” life may bring.

Only those whose lives are in God's hands can cope well with difficult times.

If, when you hear no or things do not happen as you wish, your immediate reaction is to sulk and try to solve everything your own way, you may have more in common with David's first wife than you imagine.

## **AHINOAM, DAVID'S JEALOUS WIFE**

She was David's youthful love, his first love. They grew up together. While still very young, David expressed an interest in marrying her.

But the responsibility of being Israel's future king came to the fore and changed the way David lived.

Ahinoam suffered greatly when David married Michal, because she felt used by her. Always very emotional, she did not forget him, but neither could she forget that David had married another woman first.

During Saul's persecution, David met Ahinoam again, and they married. Great passion without self-worth brings great jealousy, and that was what happened to Ahinoam.

She did not know how to value herself in her relationship, so she fought over trivial things, constantly feared he would replace her and kept returning to past issues to argue with him.

As new women arrived, David's wife could not cope with sharing the king's attention. She loved him deeply and did not want to share him, which led to many arguments.

But something wonderful happened in the life of David's second wife: the arrival of his third. It may sound ironic, but it is true.

Ahinoam's friendship with David's third wife was essential even in reminding her of her faith in God and rekindling it.

If you find it very difficult to share your husband's attention, or even other people's, and are easily hurt when someone fails to meet your expectations, but also know how to be affectionate, you are like Ahinoam.

## **ABIGAIL, THE IDEAL WIFE FOR THE KING**

Known as a beautiful woman, and not only in appearance, dignified and sensible, [**Abigail**](https://blog.univervideo.com/2023/05/26/abigail-a-esposa-ideal-para-o-rei/#:~:text=Entre%20tantas%20esposas%20de%20Davi,rei%20em%20todos%20os%20momentos.) met David by stopping him from committing a great injustice against innocent men.

She was married to an evil man called Nabal, who refused to help David and his soldiers even though David had previously helped him.

Nabal's ingratitude aroused such fury in David that he gathered his soldiers and headed toward the ungrateful man's home, intending to kill not only him but all the men in that household.

When the servants told Abigail what her husband had done, divine wisdom moved her to prepare provisions for David and the soldiers immediately.

She took her servants and went to meet David, to deliver what she had prepared personally and persuade him not to do something so foolish.

David accepted Abigail's gift and saw that God Himself had placed her there to stop him from taking justice into his own hands. He deeply regretted his intentions.

Days later, God Himself struck Nabal, who died, leaving Abigail a widow.

When Abigail's parents told David about Nabal's death, he remembered the young woman's wisdom and beauty and offered to marry her. Her parents happily accepted, knowing their daughter would not be left without support.

When she arrived, David's second wife was initially very jealous and even tried to provoke Abigail at one point. But her wisdom and strength impressed Ahinoam, and they soon became close friends.

After Saul's death and the new king's arrival in Hebron, where he began to reign, David's wives knew that new women would come at some point. Sooner than they imagined, David's fourth wife arrived: Maacah.

At one point in the sixth season of Reis, Abigail weeps sadly after failing to persuade the king not to marry a foreign woman.

### **HOW ABIGAIL IS MISSED AMONG DAVID'S WIVES**

One day, while Abigail was washing clothes in the river, she became distracted and her son Chileab began to drown. In a heroic but tragic act, David's wife gave her life to save her son.

Of all David's wives, she was the one who most needed to be by his side: she had the wisdom a king needed nearby, knew how to use her femininity and feared God.

Abigail was deeply missed by many, including Ahinoam, who later told Abigail's son Chileab about his mother's wisdom when he was older.

If you identify with Abigail, well done: you are on the right path. You do not act based on what you are feeling in the moment, but always prioritize doing God's will first.

You are a peacemaker who is readily kind to everyone around you, a woman who wants to stand beside her husband rather than ahead of him.

## **MAACAH, THE FOREIGNER**

Maacah arrived through a political alliance. After David saved the princess from highway robbers, King Talmai of Geshur went to Hebron to meet him and soon became interested in forming a political alliance.

David did not need alliances with anyone. He needed only God, but he allowed insecurity, perhaps through a lack of maturity, to lead him into marrying the princess of Geshur.

David's fourth wife grew up with customs very different from those of the Israelites, starting with stone gods, excessive sensuality and many other things she promised to give up when she married the king of Hebron.

## **MAACAH'S INTRIGUES**

As was typical of princesses, including Michal, Maacah felt superior to all David's other wives. She made that distinction evident even with her children: Absalom and Tamar, for example, were not allowed to play like the other children.

Years later, after David had moved to Jerusalem, he discovered that Maacah was still making sacrifices to her former gods.

When David pressed her, she continued lying until she had no alternative but to tell the truth.

Maacah preferred to do things her own way rather than make sacrifices for her marriage. Through her persistent resistance, she came close to losing the husband she loved.

If you struggle to give up your wishes for the sake of your good relationships and constantly feel superior to the people around you, you identify with Maacah.

## **HAGGITH, UNLIKE ANY OTHER WOMAN OF HER TIME**

Haggith entered David's life in an unusual way, after fleeing Jebus because she did not want to marry its king.

A very brave woman, she always pursued what she wanted. Wanting to join David in battle, Haggith put the king in difficult positions when she suddenly appeared in the middle of a war, trying to help him.

Haggith fears nothing. If she needs to enter the enemy army's midst to save David, she does, as she did in this seventh season of Reis.

Although she worries David at many moments, she helps him whenever he needs it. That is what she did with the Levite's clothing for David to wear when the ark of the covenant entered.

If you identify with Haggith's strength and independence, you may think these are necessarily good things, but be careful not to trample over others. Pride may be hiding behind those great abilities.

## **EGLAH, THE SINGER**

The daughter of a Levite, Eglah is a calm young woman who enchants the king with her beautiful voice as she praises God.

She becomes close friends with David's wife Abital, and they are inseparable. She rarely loses her patience, unless Ahinoam drives her to distraction in the harem of David's wives.

If you are friendly, calm and discreet, speak gently to others and generally dislike arguing with those around you, then you identify with Eglah.

## **ABITAL, THE EMOTIONAL ONE**

She cannot get upset without fainting. The way she handles everything, always so expressive, can even be funny.

Abital was humble but still had strong opinions, without losing her gentleness.

If you are outgoing and playful, know how to defend your friends and have an authentic way of dealing with adversity, you may be very much like Abital.

## **WHO DAVID'S WIVES WERE**

Each has a different personality and upbringing, but do not focus only on their flaws or only on their qualities. They all had both; that is inevitable.

I know everyone wants to see themselves in Abigail, because she seems like a flawless wonder woman.

But in everyday life, you may be behaving like someone else. I hope this brief analysis helps you truly see yourself and improve as a person.
