### Why watch the film Zoológico de Varsóvia?

"O Zoológico de Varsóvia" is a moving film that tells the extraordinary true story of Jan and Antonina Żabiński, the guardians of Warsaw Zoo during World War II.

Directed by Niki Caro and based on Diane Ackerman's book, the film immerses viewers in a world of courage, resistance and compassion amid the devastation of war.

The plot unfolds as Warsaw is invaded by Nazi forces, and the zoo, once an oasis of life and beauty, is transformed into a center of horrors.

Jan and Antonina, brilliantly played by Johan Heldenbergh and Jessica Chastain, risk their own lives to save hundreds of Jews from the Holocaust, hiding them in the animal enclosures and their own home.

The film captures not only the couple's heroic acts but also the emotional challenges they face as they balance their family's survival with their desperate desire to help others.

Through moving and powerful scenes, we are drawn into the constant tension and fear that permeates every moment of their lives.

Beyond its central narrative of resistance and rescue, "O Zoológico de Varsóvia" also offers a profound reflection on human nature and the sacrifices we are willing to make in times of crisis. The film reminds us that even in the darkest moments, hope and compassion can prevail.
