Have you ever stopped to think about how the devil acts on the human mind? In fact, have you ever wondered how the devil operates today?

Although these are complex questions with equally complex answers, this article will help you reflect, based on the Bible, on how the devil acts on people's minds and lives.

There are several ways the devil can act in a person's life. In this article, we will discuss his action through thoughts.

Every day, human beings are bombarded with thoughts, whether good or bad. Whether they come from God or the devil.

The Bible shows us that the devil has worked by suggesting thoughts since ancient times. Eve, for example, was one of his victims. Even in paradise, he managed to convince her to eat the forbidden fruit, all through a suggestion.

When he tempted the Lord Jesus in the wilderness, he also suggested actions to the Son of God (Matthew 4:1-11).

On social media, Bishop Edir Macedo pointed out that if even the Lord Jesus was tempted, human beings would not be immune to his actions.

"Even the Lord Jesus was tempted! If Satan personally tried with Him, won't he speak to us? And he speaks through thoughts, ideas, things that enter the human mind," the Bishop said.

Furthermore, the Bible also shows us that the devil prowls around human beings, always roaring. Look:

*"Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." 1 Peter 5:8*

Think about it with us. The devil is far more intelligent than human beings. He has lived for thousands upon thousands of years and witnessed humanity's creation. He knows exactly how a person might act and uses all that knowledge against that very person.

He is cunning. His mind is wicked and his arguments are highly persuasive. That is why human beings must always be alert to the thoughts he suggests.

Now, another question naturally arises.

## How can you tell whether a thought came from the devil?

Bishop Macedo also explained that being struck by the devil's thoughts is very common.

"All of us—even the apostles, the prophets, all the servants of God and heroes of Faith—have been struck by the devil's thoughts," the Bishop reiterated.

The Bishop also pointed out that "the devil is not in the mind, but whispers his thoughts into people's ears."

To identify the devil's thoughts, we must turn to the Bible, because it shows us God's will so that we can understand that whatever goes beyond it does not come from Him. Look:

*"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may experience what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2*

Did you notice that God's thoughts are good, perfect and pleasing? Therefore, is it not correct to say that thoughts without those characteristics do not come from Him?

## Can the devil act in a human being's life?

As we said above, the devil suggests certain thoughts, but it is up to each person to decide whether to follow what he suggests.

"Sin is not temptation itself, but falling into it. The devil tries. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, he leaves," the Bishop stated.

However, when people accept the devil's thoughts, he begins to have control over their lives and actions.

They become hostages to the devil's thoughts and are controlled by him, even unconsciously.

Thus, even if they do not want to, they will continue doing his will and, in some cases, even think those desires are their own.
