Have you heard that a wise woman builds her house? Today, we will explain what that means in practice.

Unfortunately, this subject is widely misunderstood, and many women end up not fulfilling the role God intended for women, especially in their homes.

That is why this text discusses the subject simply but very instructively.

The role of a wise woman

God greatly values women's role and, above all, women themselves. Anyone who thinks the Bible is sexist is mistaken. On the contrary, the Bible values women very highly.

Today, however, we will specifically discuss her role at home. The Bible shows that a wise woman blesses her home. Take a look.

*“Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.” Proverbs 14:1*

A tip from Mrs. Ester

In the series Mulher V, available exclusively on Univer Vídeo, Mrs. Ester Bezerra and other women of God meditate on Proverbs 31. Watch an excerpt:

A wise woman builds her home, meaning that harmony in the house, good relationships between people, and a pleasant atmosphere come from the woman.

Notice: if a woman is angry, upset, or simply having a bad day, the whole house is affected. Her husband is affected, the children notice something is wrong, and the whole home stops being 100% well.

That is why the Bible says a wise woman builds her home. But what does this mean in practice?

Being a wise woman who builds her home goes beyond behavior alone. In fact, a woman can only be wise and build her house if she knows God. See what the Bible says:

*“Beauty is deceptive and loveliness is vain, but the woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:30*

Examples of wise women on Univer Vídeo

The Bible gives many examples that can inspire women to be that wise woman. On Univer Vídeo, you will find various titles inspired by these women to learn more. Let's discuss some of them.

A wise woman: Leah

Leah's story is one of the most beautiful in the Bible. She was Laban's daughter and was given in marriage to Jacob by her father. But the point is that Jacob did not love Leah. He actually loved her sister Rachel.

But since Jacob had already worked for 7 years to marry Rachel, Laban gave him Leah in marriage so Jacob would continue working for him for another 7 years.

So Leah had to marry a man she loved who did not return her love. To make matters worse, when Jacob married Rachel, she began provoking her sister.

Imagine Leah's situation. She was married to a man who did not love her and also had to endure her own sister, married to him, provoking her. We can imagine it was far from easy.

But the Bible shows us that Leah was a wise woman. Scripture does not show her grumbling or retaliating. Instead, Leah praised God and cared for her children as best she could.

God rewarded Leah's attitude so greatly that she gave birth to many children and later also gained her husband's love.

The miniseries Lia, available on Univer Vídeo, tells this story simply and in detail, in a way that lets us understand this woman's pain. It is worth watching.

A wise woman: Esther

Remember when we said women have great influence over men? Through Esther's story, the Bible shows that a wise woman builds her home and also an entire nation.

During her reign, Esther was a woman greatly used by God to deliver the people of Israel. When she became queen, a decree was issued in the land of Israel ordering the Jews to be killed.

But Esther, who was Jewish, heard this ruling, was saddened, and acted to help her brothers and sisters in faith.

Using her influence, Esther persuaded the king, her husband, to revoke the decree and free God's people. Remember when I said women have a strong influence over their husbands?

The foolish woman

Besides examples of wise women, Univer Vídeo also shows examples of foolish women, so women can learn how not to be.

In Jezabel, we see a woman full of resentment and trauma who devotes her days to being a foolish woman.

Besides not knowing God and worshiping other gods, Jezebel was also among those responsible for Israel's moral and spiritual decline while she was queen beside her husband Ahab.

She was a bad woman, a real shrew, you know?! She is certainly an example of what not to do and how not to behave at home.

Rachel, the sister of Leah, whom we already mentioned, was not a wise woman either. Instead of worrying about pleasing God, Rachel spent her days making her sister's life harder.
