# Lead actors discuss the scripts and meeting the writer

The script is the starting point of every story, and once it is finished, the first step is to read it. The experience and reactions it produces will indicate whether everything that has been created will fulfill its purpose.

Actor Murilo Cezar, the lead in the series ‘*Paulo, o Apóstolo’*, shared what the process was like for him: *‘I read the script a few times, and the first time I devoured it! I was moved every time.’*

But he was not the only one. Dudu Pelizzari, who will star alongside Nathalia Florentino in the *spin-off* of Paulo’s series, *‘O Senhor e a Serva’*, had the same reaction:

> *‘When I received the scripts, I had an appointment that afternoon, so I thought I would read a few beforehand and finish after I got back — but I couldn’t stop reading! I canceled the appointment and read the entire script in one go! And it was funny because I would read and think: I’ll just read one more and stop to eat something; but I couldn’t stop reading.’*

With extensive experience in the arts, it was not their first time reading scripts, yet all agreed with Nathalia’s statement: *‘Your scripts are completely different; the way these stories move through us is unique. I really couldn’t stop reading. Everything flows so well, the dialogue is so alive, the characters are so well developed…’*

One distinguishing element is the biblical aspect, both in the story’s purpose and in the experience of those encountering it for the first time: *‘The entire biblical universe is epic, a powerful experience in acting. Besides, studying a script alongside the Bible was, and continues to be, a unique experience in my life,’* Murilo shared.

And when it comes to casting, that speaks for itself: *‘There was no need to convince me. It is always enriching to take part in projects that inspire healing, redemption, and understanding. I think being part of all this is very important,’* Nathalia said about accepting the new role.

All three have already met with the writer, Cristiane Cardoso, which only broadened their understanding of their characters and the story’s purpose. *‘Cristiane said something that resonated with me throughout my creation and understanding of Paul:*

> *‘He is a Trouble Maker!’*

***Dudu Pelizzari also comments:***

*‘Nath and I met with her recently, and I am very grateful for her accessibility and the respect and affection with which she treats the people she chooses. You don’t find that at any other broadcaster or production. The meetings always give me great epiphanies, not just about the character but about life; they are always great lessons in Faith. She made some excellent points that I won’t reveal to you now!’*

*‘She brings so much truth to her writing; that is what strikes me most. While exploring strength, she also includes silences, looks, and subtlety. It is very interesting. She conveys the message intelligently, in a way that connects and reaches the other side, which is what matters most.’* Nathalia commented on the writing style, both in *‘A Rainha da Pérsia’* and in the upcoming release, whose compelling narrative about a many-layered Roman man and the servant who will come to explore each of those layers will bridge the end of Paul’s life and a historic, devastating, already imminent period: the persecution of Christians.

Filming for ‘*Paulo, o Apóstolo’*, which premieres May 28 exclusively on univervideo.com, is already underway.
