Reis series S1

The first season of Reis tells Samuel's story

First Season

*Reis — A Decepção* portrays Israel's estrangement from God and the terrible example set by those who were once chosen to lead the nation along the Lord's paths.

The series depicts the remarkable contrast between a negligent judge and his rebellious sons leading a people, and a young, God-fearing boy who takes his place. Its main themes paint a picture of Israel's spiritual decline and the negligence of spiritual leaders.

The season unfolds around the cities of Israel, also watched by the Philistine army. But the story comes into its own inside the Tabernacle in Siló, where we follow the decline of Eli's family and the growth of young Samuel, Israel's future prophet and judge.

The second season portrays the moment Saul was anointed by Samuel

Second Season

*Reis — A Ingratidão* recounts the beginning of the monarchy in Israel, with the rise of Saul as the nation's first king and Samuel as its last judge. The second season of this major production marks the Israelites' disobedience as they envy other peoples, try to replace God with a man and ask for a leader to govern them.

Faced with the threat of new enemies, the Ammonites, the elders of Israel gather the people in Ramá to tell Samuel of their demand for a king for Israel. God orders the prophet to grant the people's request. However, the consequences of this act of disrespect were still to come.

Saul is anointed king of Israel in Mizpá and proves to be a humble, honest, God-fearing man. He is acclaimed and crowned after defeating the Ammonite leader Naás. However, the plot of Reis – A Ingratidão begins to show signs of the future change in the behavior of this man from the tribe of Benjamin.

The third season tells the story of the reign of Saul, Israel's first king

Third Season

*Reis — A Rejeição* tells the story of the reign of Israel's first king. Chosen by God and acclaimed by the people, Saul quickly becomes a source of hope for a safe and promising future for those under his leadership.

What no one expects, however, is that the king, initially so humble, begins to be carried away by his privileged position, with unimaginable consequences both for his family and for the people he swore to care for and protect. What had the potential to raise the nation to an unprecedented level may also become the cause of its destruction.

The story continues the relentless persecution by the Philistines, who seek at all costs to invade and conquer the Israelites' territory. After fifty years of truce, Saul finds himself in the difficult and fearsome position of having to face them on the battlefield.

But something is wrong with the new king, and his hesitation to go to war goes beyond fear of the enemy's superior numbers and strength. He fears the adversary he carries within himself and knows that, because of his actions, God may not be on his side this time.

With many internal and external conflicts, mysteries, twists, intrigues and secrets that must be kept at any price, Reis – A Rejeição shows the rise and corruption of Israel's leader and brings to light the undeniable truth that one always reaps what one sows.

Reis series S4

The fourth season of Reis shows the beginning of young Davi's story

Fourth Season

*Reis — A Escolha* tells the beginning of the story of the second and most acclaimed king humanity has ever heard of. Davi, as many know him, was chosen while still young by God Himself to govern the nation of Israel in place of Saul, who had been its first king and a disappointment to the Lord of Hosts. Thus, the fourth season of Reis takes viewers deeper into the story of Jessé's youngest son.

From his birth to the beginning of harsh persecution, the story of Davi's rejection—despite his small stature, he was great in faith and courage—reveals that the true measure for choosing someone for great deeds does not lie in physical standards, but is represented by purity, obedience, fear of God and difficult struggles to overcome. These, therefore, begin to shape the character of a chosen one. In Davi's case, the “man after God's own heart” and a member of the lineage of Jesus Christ.

Through the intricacies of this beautiful story of faith, love and overcoming adversity, we will faithfully continue through the books of I Samuel and part of the writings of Psalms, which endure to this day. Above all, we follow the clear contrast between Saul, who becomes obsessed with the kingship that is no longer rightfully his, and Davi in his youth. Although no ordinary boy, he falls in love, suffers from his brothers' envy and is rejected by most, yet has great experiences with God that mark his life forever.

Throughout the narrative, set in Belém and its surroundings but also moving through Gibeá, Filístia and Gibeão, we will encounter the stories of important characters—recounted in the Bible—who develop throughout the plot and play significant roles in the course Davi's life will take. From angels, bears and lions to Philistine giants, the beginnings of a small red-haired boy, disregarded since the womb, are anything but ordinary.

True to the season's name, Reis — A Escolha unveils what lies deepest within human beings and clearly illustrates the criteria God sets when choosing His earthly representatives. Although we mere mortals tend to make choices based on physical attributes, God reveals Himself by contradicting common sense and proving once again that He pays attention to what is in the heart, rather than what the eyes can see.

Reis series S5

The fifth season of Reis tells the story of Davi in adulthood

Fifth Season

*Reis — A Perseguição* continues the incredible journey of the God-fearing and courageous Davi, the "man after God's own heart." No longer an unknown young man in Israel, Davi, through his upright character and the countless victories the Lord has granted him, has won the admiration and esteem of all the Israelite people, awakening uncontrollable envy in Saul, the nation's current king.

Thus, the fifth season of Reis follows the ups and downs of the complex relationship between two remarkable historical figures and how Saul's growing persecution—which resulted in his moral degradation—brought his successor even closer to God.

Consequently, it will become clear that neither Davi's strength nor his own ability delivered him from the hands of his enemies, but rather the constant presence of the One he feared and sought, in times of peace as well as in moments of deep pain and distress.

The fascinating plot will take us through the writings of I Samuel, parts of II Samuel and the much-loved book of Psalms. We will experience the joys, sorrows and difficulties faced by Davi and by those who decided to follow him after recognizing divine authority in him. We will come to know Davi as a son, brother, friend, lover, warrior and faithful servant, not only to Saul but above all to the Lord of Hosts and to the nation entrusted to him. However, we will also witness the conflicts and moments of weakness that Davi, like any human being, had to face.

The narrative, spanning various locations in Israel and Filístia, including Gibeá, Ramá, Queila, En-Gedi, Adulão, Asdode and Ziclague, will tell the stories of memorable and, ironically, very contemporary characters, while stirring powerful emotions and bringing viewers invaluable lessons.

*Reis — A Perseguição* reveals how pride can ruin a human being, leaving only a faint memory of who that person once was when submitting to God. On the other hand, the Lord's hand remains faithful upon those who humbly obey, trust and fear Him, whether amid fierce battles or harsh persecution.

Reis series S6

Davi faces a series of challenges in the sixth season of Reis

Sixth Season

*Reis — A Conquista* portrays the events in Davi's life after the death of his greatest persecutor, Saul, as well as the acclaimed king's inclination. In this context, viewers better understand why Jessé's son later makes the mistake that changes the course of his story.

Davi faces opposition from Abner, Israel's commander, who appoints Saul's inexperienced and insecure son, Isbosete, as king in Jabes-Gileade, creating a great division within the nation. Yet contrary to many people's expectations, the “house of Davi” grows considerably stronger, while the “house of Saul” weakens each day, making it even clearer how much the hand of the Lord of Hosts favored His chosen one.

The sixth season of Reis shows the beginning of Davi's reign in Hebrom through to the tragic conclusion of the story of the “house of Saul,” including the conquest of fortified Jerusalem. This season is not only full of surprising and mysterious new plots, but also continues to highlight the courage, fear of God and justice of the beloved king of Judá, toward both the people and God.

But this new stage also follows the first consequences Davi must face after yielding to his tendency to go too far in exercising his royal right to have several wives. As a result, he has serious problems not only in his personal life but also within his family.

Reis — A Conquista also takes us deeper into the journeys of memorable characters, such as the mighty warrior Sama; Davi's indomitable nephew, Joabe; the faithful and patient Urias; and the beautiful but fickle Bateseba.

This sixth season therefore promises powerful emotions, while encouraging viewers to reflect on the themes and issues addressed throughout the story.

Reis series S7

The seventh season shows Davi living in torment after committing a sin

Seventh Season

*Reis — O Pecado* begins immediately after Davi and his mighty warriors conquer Jerusalem. This victory marked a crucial point in the history of the Hebrew people and made Jerusalem the capital of Israel under Davi's government. A government that prospers significantly, enjoying political stability and military security unlike anything seen before.

In this thrilling stage, filled with conflicts and twists, we follow Israel's acclaimed king as, upon reaching the height of his reign, he begins to let down his guard, giving in to his weaknesses and having to deal with the consequences.

We meet again characters who will be decisive in the story, such as the king's ambitious adviser, Aitofel; the obstinate and fickle Bateseba; the upright and brave Urias; and Davi's faithful friend and prophet, Natan. There is also Mefibosete, Saul's humble descendant, who, after years living on the streets, reunites with the man who was his father's best friend.

The seventh season makes clear the contrast between a Davi who is devoted to his family, a good friend and a God-fearing servant, and another who lives in torment after yielding to his inclination and committing a sin that has a negative impact on his life.

Reis series S9

Petrônio Gontijo plays King Davi in the eighth season of the major production Reis

Eighth Season

*Reis — A Consequência* returns to Davi's story years after the terrible and regrettable sin committed by the king of Israel. No longer a man tormented by guilt and the weight of his mistakes, Davi governs the nation with the same wisdom and vigor as before, having received God's forgiveness and restored his fellowship with the Most High. But within his family he must face the hardest battles, since, as a consequence of his actions, the Lord warned him that the "sword would never depart from his house."

In this context, we will follow the moral decline and spiritual corruption of Davi's eldest sons. From Amnon's unrestrained desires for his half-sister, Tamar, to Absalão's acts of rebellion and Adonias's schemes, we will experience the monarch's suffering as he witnesses much of his family fall apart. Yet it is also during this painful period that we understand why Davi is considered the "man after God's own heart." Unlike his predecessor, he does not cling to his position and, believing it to be the Divine will, even relinquishes Israel's throne when one of his sons, influenced by Aitofel, seizes it by force.

The fascinating narrative also introduces us to young Salomão, chosen by God Himself to succeed his father, a position the prince feels neither worthy nor capable of assuming. Rejected by his brothers because he was born of Davi's marriage to Bateseba, Salomão becomes a reserved, insecure young man with few friends. In Naamá, a lively and daring Ammonite woman, he finds the escape he so desires, and the two will experience a passionate romance in secret.

Thus, the eighth season portrays both the conclusion of the acclaimed King Davi's compelling story and the inexperienced Salomão's rise to the throne. Despite the many losses and betrayals he experiences, we will see the Psalmist cling even more closely to the Lord God, who will continue to sustain and guide His chosen one until his last breath. Filled with conflicts, intrigue and twists, Reis — A Consequência is anything but an ordinary season, promising viewers powerful emotions and valuable lessons.

Reis series S9

The ninth season shows the beginning of Salomão's reign in Israel

Ninth Season

*Reis — A Sucessão* portrays the beginning of the journey of Salomão, known as the wisest man who ever lived. Young and inexperienced, he takes on the responsibility of reigning in place of his father, the respected and admired King Davi.

Amid his grief and difficulty adapting to his new reality, old and new threats emerge from where Salomão least expects them. While he worries about keeping danger outside Jerusalem, he does not suspect that what can harm him most lies within the palace walls, and that, once again, those who should have his trust will be the first to rebel against him.

As if that were not enough, the new king must deal with the fact that the woman he loves and married has abandoned him, taking his son with her and leaving him to face every adversity alone. The only support he has left, therefore, comes from Benaia, his faithful commander; his mother, Bateseba; and Abisague, the young concubine his father entrusted to him to care for and marry.

The compelling story will also introduce us to a dangerous adversary who will ally himself with Egypt, with new plans both for the Israelite nation and for Salomão's love life. In this context, driven by his own insecurity, Salomão considers allying himself with one of Israel's oldest enemies. Cornered by the consequences of his mistake, the young king sees no way out and turns to the One who chose him.

Thus, the ninth season of Reis not only promises viewers intense conflicts, intrigue and twists, but also reveals that even those chosen by God need to hold fast to their faith in Him. Through King Salomão's life, it becomes clear that even the promises of the Most High are not simply received, but attained with humility and a heart surrendered to Him.

Tenth season

The tenth season delves into Salomão's conflicts amid grief

*Reis — A Decadência* With Salomão already reigning, the tenth season of Reis, A Decadência, shows the conflicts between Davi's son and his wives.

With the slogan "And his wives turned his heart astray," the tenth season delves into Salomão's conflicts amid grief, the king's relationship with his wives, and the journey of Naamá, who was desperate and lost within herself, seeking Salomão's love, recognition and affection.

It is also in the tenth season of Reis that Salomão's writings begin to become known, including in neighboring kingdoms. This brings episodes full of wisdom through Salomão's papyri. In addition, the queen of Sabá appears for the first time in season ten. This is because Salomão's writings reached the queen, who insisted on meeting the king of such great wisdom.

Thus, in the tenth season of Reis, we see a Salomão completely different from the one we knew in the previous season.
